Spa Marvel Filter Cleaner Instructions

Clean filters are pivotal to successful spa-water care.  Use of a filter cleaning agent such as Spa Marvel Filter Cleaner is required.

If your hot tub water has a musty smell, it is pretty much guaranteed that your filters have not been properly cleaned.  Just rinsing your filters in hot water will not eliminate these odors.

Spa Marvel Filter Cleaner is a powerful cleaner that doesn’t utilize harsh acids or bleach, and removes and loosens oil, hair, dirt and grime that becomes lodged in the fabric of cartridge filters.  One bottle of Spa Marvel Filter Cleaner provides 8 filter cleanings.  At a fraction of the cost of other filter cleaning products on the market, Spa Marvel Filter Cleaner is the best and most economical filter cleaning agent available.

  • Remove the filter from spa and rinse with a spray hose.
  • Add two capfuls of Spa Marvel Filter Cleaner to up to 20 litres (5 gallons) of fresh water in a pail and mix to dissolve.
  • Soak the filter for at least 1 day in the solution.  I soak mine for a minimum of 2 - 4 days.  Always have 2 sets of filters so you can swap out the dirty set for a properly cleaned set of filters.
  • After soaking the filter in Spa Marvel Filter Cleaner it is critical that the debris is thoroughly removed from the pleats of the filters. The water pressure from showers and kitchen sinks is often not strong enough to remove the debris. If after rinsing your filters there is still discolouration in the pleats of the filters or if they still smell, then they are not clean. Many people use a pressure washer (gently and carefully) to quickly and effectively remove the debris after soaking the filter. If you do not have access to a pressure washer, the sprayer at the coin-operated car wash works well.  Most reusable hot tub filters ought to be replaced after 6 months of use.

I find it best to have 2 sets of hot tub filters.  Every second week I swap out my filter(s).  I thoroughly rinse the dirty filter then put it in a bucket of water with Spa Marvel Filter Cleanser, as described above.  I usually leave the filter(s) soaking in the Spa Marvel Filter Cleanser until needed a couple weeks down the road.  Using this method, my filters look almost as white a year later as the did the day I bought them.

I simply cannot over emphasize how important it is to keep your filters clean.  It's all of a 10 minute job every couple weeks!
